General Election 2017
Introducing Greg Mountain our Mid Sussex Labour Candidate for 2017
Greg is well known across the constituency for his campaigning efforts. All our branches and members will work hard to support Greg and maximise votes for Labour. This is the second General Election in two years and gives us the opportunity to build on our previous 2015 campaign in which Greg came a very creditable second.
Vote for Labour Parliamentary Candidate Greg Mountain on Thursday 8th June
I care about improving the lives of Mid Sussex people. Vote with hope, help the many, not the few.
As your Labour candidate I ask for your vote to secure a more prosperous Mid Sussex for all. I've enjoyed living in Haywards Heath for over 35 years. My children were educated here and my family and I all played our part in sports clubs and the wider community. As a Labour MP in Mid Sussex I will bring fresh ideas and much needed change to help as many people as I can.
Time for change
A vote for Labour is a vote for positive change in Mid Sussex. We will aim to get the best possible deal out of Brexit negotiations for everyone, whether you voted Remain or Leave. We will seek to redress the harm to people of harsh public spending cuts since 2010. A Labour Government will use the nation's huge spending power differently to tackle the issues we currently face:
- A low wage economy
- A shortage of skilled workers
- Large scale tax avoidance and evasion
- Under-funded public services
- Unnecessary privatisation
- A major housing shortage
- Adult children dependent on parental financial support
- Losing environmental, social and workers' protections after Brexit
My pledge to you is that I will support a Labour Government's measures to:
- Increase the minimum wage, especially for the young worker
- Invest in training, skills and small businesses
- Ensure people and companies pay a "fair share" of tax
- Better fund Social Care, the NHS and state sector education
- Restore post 16 education in Haywards Heath
- End NHS privatisation and ensure trains run on a "Not for Profit" basis
- Build more starter homes people can afford to buy
- Ensure, after Brexit, we retain environmental, as well as social and workers' rights
