26/11/14 - Successful Fundraising Evening in Burgess Hill

Burgess Hill Branch of the Labour Party welcomed Manuel Cortes to a fund raising evening last night. Manuel, the General Secretary of the rail union TSSA, raised spirits with an inspirational speech to local Town Councillors and members, Pam Haigh, the Constituency’s Chair and the Parliamentary Candidate Greg Mountain.

Manuel stressed the view that every vote counts. He urged the local party to continue its great work and adopt the national approach of winning votes street by street.

Besides supporting the local party’s efforts in Burgess Hill and Mid Sussex Manuel went on to explain why the 2015 General Election is vital to Labour and the country. Only with a return to power can Labour turn back the tide of: A few taking more of the nation’s wealth, privatisation of public services and Increasing poverty, witnessed by Food Banks and pensioners unable to heat homes.

The appearance of a nationally recognised Trade Union figure is great tribute to the Burgess Hill Branch, and besides thanking Manuel for speaking, guests recognised the efforts of those involved in arranging the event.
