03/12/2021 - Press Release - Haywards Heath Labour, inspired by Worthing Success
Tim Weekes, the new chair of Haywards Heath Labour, responds below to Labour's success in Worthing in ending the long Tory rule of the council.
Tim Weekes, the new Chair for the Haywards Heath branch of the Labour Party in Mid Sussex, said:
"We, the new team running the Labour Party's Haywards Heath branch, are inspired by the success of Worthing Labour this week. They have won a historic victory in taking a by-election seat from the Conservatives and ending the Tory majority on Worthing district council. Worthing has shown that Sussex people want to see Labour's plans put into practice which make communities more prosperous, greener and fairer. It is clear that people are running out of patience with the Tories. We welcome anyone in Haywards Heath and Mid Sussex to join us in bringing this kind of change to our community as well."
The new team representing Haywards Heath Labour are all longstanding residents of HH but have widely varying lengths of membership within the party. Tim, Anna, Pauline and Mandy live in Lindfield. Paul and David live in town and are the two retirees on the team. Everyone else is at work either locally, in Sussex or as a homeworker. Together, the team has experience of teaching, general practice, I.T., communications and accountancy.
