16/12/15 – Press Release - Labour Party Supports Burgess Hill Community Food Bank
On Saturday 12 December, the Burgess Hill Branch of the Mid Sussex Labour Party was delighted to present the Burgess Hill Community Food Bank with a contribution of food collected from Party members and the general public who were keen to support the Food Bank’s initiatives helping local families in financial difficulty this Christmas.
Burgess Hill Community Food Bank was one of a number of local community groups who joined together to provide over 200 Christmas hampers to families in need in the local area, including Burgess Hill, Hassocks and Hurstpierpoint. Any current Food Bank clients (between now & Christmas) who missed the initial cut-off date will also be given one of these hampers as well as a gift bag. In addition, the Food Bank will continue to provide its normal day to day service for those who need its vital support.
If anyone is facing difficulties, Food Bank vouchers can be obtained from a number of agencies in the area, including the Citizens’ Advice Bureau, Family Centres, Job Centres and Affinity Sutton Housing Association. More information can be found on the Food Bank’s website www.burgesshillfoodbank.org.uk/
Mid Sussex Labour Party Chair Pam Haigh said ‘We are very pleased to make a contribution to the Burgess Hill Community Food Bank’s work in this area, and we take our hats off to the dedicated team of volunteers who do so much for people who need their help to get by’.
