Your Labour Candidate: PAM HAIGH

West Sussex County Council Burgess Hill North Division

I’m Pam Haigh your Labour Candidate at the 2021 West Sussex County Council Elections.

I have been a member of the Labour Party for over 20 years and have lived in Burgess Hill with my partner since 2006, since leaving corporate life I have become more active in my local Labour Party.

A former chair of Mid Sussex Labour, I have been involved in election campaigns at all levels and have previously stood as Labour candidate in County, District and Town council elections.

My work background is Project Management, Service Delivery and Service Improvement. If elected I will use those skills to deliver and improve local government services for the people of West Sussex.

FIGHTING FOR KEY ISSUES

WSCC key issues

Protecting Local Services

West Sussex residents should be at the heart of all local government decisions. There needs to be a challenge to the Conservative run “yes men” attitude in local government – I will provide that challenge taking on local issues, working with, and for local residents at both county and local level, to help ensure they get the services they deserve.

The long-term Conservative control of both County and District councils has led to complacency and lack of accountability, it is vital that we have Labour Councillors to scrutinise decisions.

We know that council departments will face huge financial challenges in delivering services across West Sussex, such as education, social care, transport, fire and rescue and many more - and we all know about WSCC’s failings, especially in children’s social care. Now is the time to challenge the status quo and drive for public money to be better spent.

With your support, I can get elected and do that job to make Burgess Hill a better place to live and work.

OUR VISION FOR BURGESS HILL

Reverse Tory cuts to Local Government

60p in £1 has been cut from the budget allocated to West Sussex from the Government so we pay £737 more a year in Council Tax than they did in 2014. Labour will work hard to reverse these cuts.

Caring for the health, education and welfare of all age groups

Labour's focus is always on everyones health, education and welfare. From early years education to adult social care, wellbeing is our priority.

Unlocking the innovative, economic and co-operative strengths of our community

Our town's redevelopment is hardly fit for purpose. Everyone in our community can and must have a real, democratic voice in shaping the future of Burgess Hill.

Leading a Green Revolution through sustainability and accessibility

Labour Councillors pledge to place the environment in the forefront of everything we do – from waste disposal to public transport, we will ensure that West Sussex County Council leads the way on the environment.

YOUR LABOUR TEAM FOR HASSOCKS, BURGESS HILL, HURSTPIERPOINT & BOLNEY

I am not the only candidate for a local County Council seat. My fellow team members standing for other seats are Fred Burns, ,Sue Jex and Alison Whelan . Together we will campaign on your behalf on issues that are important to Labour Party members and people in Haywards Heath and the surrounding villages. Shortly we will be in touch with you to help us determine the main issues and how you may be able to help our campaigns. Meanwhile I hope you can stay safe in these challenging times.
