Your Labour Candidate: ALISON WHELAN
West Sussex County council Hurspierpoint & Bolney Division
I was privileged to work as a GP in West Sussex for over 30 years and dedicated my career to helping others improve their lives. Despite their enormous resilience, I regularly witnessed the stress, despair and struggle faced by many people because the support services they desperately needed had closed or faced drastic cuts.
Having seen first-hand the effect of austerity policies on the lives of my patients and their families, I now want to serve as a councillor in the area where I live. I will use my real-life experiences to secure proper investment in public services to ensure social justice and opportunities for all.
Hurstpierpoint and Bolney are part of Arundel and Southdowns Labour Party

FIGHTING FOR KEY ISSUES

LET’S PROTECT SERVICES
In the next few years Council Departments will face massive financial challenges in delivering services to everyone in West Sussex. Now is the time to challenge the complacent and unambitious status quo in the county. In order to drive for public money to be better spent, it is vital that we have Labour Councillors in County Hall, Chichester from 2021 to scrutinise decisions. With your support, I can get elected and do that job.
OUR VISION FOR HURSTPIERPOINT AND BOLNEY
- Spearheading the campaign to save Children and Family Centres. The Tories plan to close 32 in West Sussex.
- Calling for the council to divest its pension scheme in fossil fuels. Local Tories failed to support the plan.
- Highlighting the shocking state of our roads. Labour will make fixing potholes and overgrown vegetation a priority.
- Campaigning against cuts to disabled people's bus passes and socially important bus routes forcing the Tories to delay plans.
- Proposing significant savings by stopping failed and costly outsourcing of services and reducing reliance on expensive consultants.
